Two Open Calls for Stories for New A.A. Pamphlets
(Deadline: March 31, 2026)

Through advisory actions from the 74th General Service Conference (2024), the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous in the U.S. and Canada asked for two new pieces of literature to be created, “A pamphlet on the Asian and Asian American alcoholic” and “A pamphlet on the transgender alcoholic”.  In response to the advisory actions, the AA’s trustees' Literature Committee has opened two calls for recovery stories.

  • The deadline for story submissions from Asian and transgender alcoholics is March 31, 2026, so there is a very short window to gather as many stories as possible for the pamphlet.

There is a much smaller pool of AA members to draw from than for other recent pamphlet projects due to the very low occurrence of people from these groups in our Fellowship (1.2% Asian, 0.46% Non-binary, neither, both, gender fluid, non-conforming according to 2022 Membership Survey conducted by the General Service Office for the U.S. and Canada).  In addition, a large number of stories will be needed in order to create pamphlets with a great diversity of cultures, demographics, and lived experiences.

Please help by informing all A.A. members you know in the U.S. and Canada who either:

    1. have ethnic or cultural ties to Asia  (including South Asia e.g. Bangladesh, India, Pakistan; Southeast Asia e.g. Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand; and any others who might self-identify as Asian)      - or -

    2. are transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, Two-Spirit, or gender-nonconforming

If you fall into one of these categories, we really need your story!  Submission instructions can be found at aa.org on the following pages:

    You can also help by:

    • Sharing and posting flyers for the calls for stories:

      • Flyer for “A.A. for the Asian and Asian-American Alcoholic” pamphlet call for stories: English, Spanish, French

      • Flyer for “A.A. for the Transgender Alcoholic” pamphlet call for stories: English, Spanish, French

    • Making announcements at A.A. meetings, or business meetings for your district, area, intergroup, or other A.A. service committees.

    • Help spread the word to other committees and service entities who might be interested in helping (e.g. literature committees, accessibilities committees, remote communities committees, intergroups, central offices, YPAAs, AA clubs, private groups on social media)

  • To aid those who are interested in submitting a story, working groups of the trustee’s Literature Committee have organized special writing workshops to provide information, answer questions, and to give useful tips to story writers. See below for schedule.
